Officers from our prevention hub and Safer Neighbourhood Teams will be hosting bike marking events over the summer. Offering cyclists the opportunity to have their bikes marked for free using BikeRegsiter, which helps to deter theft, supports identification of stolen bikes and increases the likelihood of reuniting recovered cycles with their owners. Events will be advertised on our messaging platform Neighbourhood Matters. Please visit www.neighbourhoodmatters.co.uk for upcoming dates and locations.
Man sentenced for driving dumper truck into houseDean Walker, of no fixed abode, stole the dumper truck from R&R Plant in Madeley on Sunday 14th September 2025 while high on cocaine, driving it around the corner to Mullinder Drive in Ketley where he drove it into the side of a property while three people were inside. Walker has then fled the scene. Walker was found guilty of damaging property being reckless to whether life was endangered by a jury at a trial last year. He had already pleaded guilty to theft, dangerous driving and criminal damage. During the hearing Walker was also sentenced for previous offences not relating to the incident in September 2025, which included three counts of arson, one charge of actual bodily harm, four counts of shoplifting and one count of burglary. On Monday (15 June) he was given an eight-year sentence at Shrewsbury Crown Court, as well a 10-year restraining order against his ex-partner and a 100-month driving ban.
Operation Spotlight
During July we will be supporting Operation Spotlight, a national operation to highlight and raise awareness of the work roads policing officers, local policing teams and communities do every day to tackle these issues to try and reduce the number that are killed or seriously injured on our roads. During the summer months the number of people killed or seriously injured on the road network increases and Op Spotlight is a targeted national operation to try and combat this to make our roads safer for everyone.
